Finishes, topcoats & treatments

We use mostly water-based products that are both durable and friendly to the earth (and our employees).  You can choose far more with A.E. Schmidt than just the stain color.

We'll start with the sheen; most companies only offer one, we offer three- satin, semi gloss & high gloss.  The names do a good job of describing the look.  Satin is a very flat finish and makes the wood look established.  High gloss is very shiny, but not like plastic, like other gloss finishes.  Semi gloss is somewhere in the middle and where the majority of wood products are finished.  There are no upcharges for any of these sheens.

A.E. Schmidt started this trend 20 years ago.  Why use just one stain when so many are available to paint your own canvas.  You can go light with dark highlights or dark with light highlights with our toucan model (up to four can be selected).  Our master stainer, Rocky Fenton, started his working career as a graphic artist.  His experience and knowledge gives our customers choices other companies simply cannot match.

Highlighted Finish *upcharges apply

This is the process of spraying a darker glazing around the edges to give an old world shaded look.  Our head finisher, Armondo Perez, achieves this look by using an air brush to highlight the outer extremities of the table.

Our tables are truly custom made.  Being a part of the design process gives you an heirloom you and your family will be proud of for generations.
