Stain Options

A.E. Schmidt offers several choices of stain colors for your pool table.  All stains are hand brushed and are penetrating stains.  This is far different from the way import and mass produced tables receive their color or tone.  The majority of manufacturers spray the stain on to the wood parts after they have applied a base coat to hide imperfections in the wood.  Since this is basically a painting process and the color merely covers and does not absorb, you can imagine what happens when a cue stick or ball hits the finish.

With brushed, penetrating stains, you see more clarity in the wood.  They are also far more durable.  You will definitely appreciate the difference for many years to come.

Below are the wood and stain options for your custom pool table.

The color listings in bold are the stains we recommend the most to bring out the desired character of the wood.  While oak looks good in almost any stain, maple is best suited to the darker colors.  Cherry is the opposite, there is very little point in paying additional for the look and grain texture of cherry and then covering it up with a dark stain.
